Description
Building land in Pedraça
Located in a residential area
Excellent sun exposure
5 minutes from the seat of the Council and access to A7 in Arco de Baúlhe
Pedraça is a parish embedded in the Western shore of Cabeceiras de Basto. Separated by the River Tâmega from the county of Mondim de Basto and by the river Peio from its congeners of Basto (Sta. Senhorinha) and Arco de Baúlhe and Vila Nune, the parish is also bordered by Cavez and Riodouro. Little rugged, it is a fertile land where the abundance of water provides a remote agricultural occupation.
Designated by "Pedraços" in the "Inquiries" of 1258, this parish records the existence of two chapels in Pedraça, dedicated to St. Barbara and St. Gonçalo.
Tradition says that, next to the House of Pedraça, there is a kind of "picadeiro" that would have been used by D. Nuno Álvares Pereira, who married D. Leonor de Alvim and spent the wedding there...
The Mother Church, the cross, the alminhas of the Bridge of Tables and the Roman Bridge of Pontinha are also places of cultural and built interest. The viewpoint of Santa Barbara and the place of Holy Waters, are also places of tourist interest to be noted.
The festivals and pilgrimages stand out Santa Marinha, Santa Barbara and S. Gonçalo.
