Description

3 bedroom house for sale
Village house in good condition
Inserted in a plot with 1400sqm
Great location

Located in the northeastern end of the county of Cabeceiras de Basto, Gondiães confronts with three counties, Montalegre, Boticas and Ribeira de Pena. Despite being considerably extensive this old parish is sparsely populated. Its relief is slightly wavy and is characterized to the east by the orographic basin of the Bessa River. It is a fertile land and abundant in game and forest.

The Festival of Potatoes takes place alternately in Lugar do Samão and Gondiães, on January 20. On the day of the festival, the potatoes, the broa, the bacon and the wine are eaten. Everything is prepared by the inhabitants for a week, to be blessed on the day of the festival. Some people take with them part of the broa that they keep for some time because of the "mezinha" that they believe exists in the blessed bread.

The modest church of S. Martinho de Gondiães and the chapel of N. Senhora dos Remédios, the Picota slaughterhouse and the wire bridge over the Beça river stand out from the built heritage.

Agriculture and forestry are the main economic activities.
Once called Vila Seca, Vilar de Cunhas comprises the villages of Vilar, Cunhas and Uz. Of territory considered extensive but sparsely populated, it is located in the Northeast part of the county, bordering the neighboring municipalities of Montalegre and Ribeira de Pena and the congeners of Riodouro, Cavez and the former parish of Gondiães.

Dominated by an inhospitable climate, this ancient parish has a plateau area and another mountain, which allows the permanence of agriculture and pastoralism, for thousands of years, as a local economic support, preserving interesting uses and techniques of rare ethnographic knowledge. Vilar de Cunhas has a rich natural and landscape heritage with enormous potential in the hunting and fishing areas. The livestock when directed to the production of meat is associated with agricultural activity.

The cultural and built heritage stands out the modest Mother Church and the House of Chouzas, a solarengo building, perhaps nineteenth century that includes three interesting spigueiros of that century.

The festivals and pilgrimages stand out the one of S. Lourenço and the Spirit of God.

The wool socks and lace are the characteristic crafts of this locality.
